Message from the President
We are an independent ship management company.
1. The needs of shipowners vary widely from one owner to another. To provide ship
management services tailored to each owner’s requirements, we make full use of the
flexibility that only an independent company can offer.
2. To continue providing ship management services rooted in Japan for many years to
come, we are also fully committed to developing young Superintendents. By doing so,
we aim to prevent ship management from drifting away from Japan and to continue
delivering the distinctive value of “Japanese management” to shipowners.
In addition to ensuring safety management, environmental protection, and economical operation for vessels, we strive every day to provide higher-quality ship management with an eye toward the future. We also hope to support the foundation of the maritime industry going forward and to play even a small part in contributing to society.
While preserving the traditions and trust built by our predecessors, we will take on the challenge of swiftly identifying new technologies and emerging needs, and of continuing to transform ourselves with flexibility and speedy Together, we will move forward as one team.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support and patronage.
President Koki Sato
COMPANY PROFILE

Cosmo Sealand Co., Ltd. is a ship management company based in Minato-ku in Tokyo.
We manage all kinds of ships, from bulk carriers, container ships and ultra-low temperature reefer ships to LPG tankers, accepting this responsibility from the ship-owners. Our staff, with a wealth of experience and knowledge of seamanship, carry out their daily jobs for the safe operation of the ships we have taken on, using the company's proprietary ship management system.
We offer three services: ship management (engineering), operation control, and crew management services.
Ship Management (Engineering) involves arranging for repairs, refurbishment and maintenance, as well as overseeing engineering works to ensure the safe operation of the vessel on behalf of its owners.
We obtain necessary supplies for vessels, sea charts, equipment, components, and lubricating oil, and supervise at the docks while ships are being constructed.
Operation Control involves operating vessels safely and protecting the environment in compliance with laws and regulations, including international conventions.
We periodically send superintendents to vessels in port, and inspect the ship’s safety equipment and internal operating systems. They check what is happening on-site, and make sure there are no defects that will cause a problem after departure, giving safety education to crew members and making improvements in order to prevent accidents and trouble in advance. In addition, we offer the necessary support and information for the safe operation of ships, and, in the unlikely event of an accident, we negotiate with the person or organization who has chartered the ship, the relevant authorities, and insurance companies on behalf of the vessel’s owner.
Finally, we offer Crew Management Services.
Through our agents, who have a long history of manning ships in the Philippines and Indonesia, our company consistently carries out the hiring, education, and replacement of crews, and the manning of vessels. Each year we accept excellent students from mercantile marine universities as scholarship students, and in addition to proactively engaging in in-house training of young officers, we confirm that they fulfil certain standards as our crew members through our proprietary training system before they board a ship. We also offer re-training for crew members who are waiting to board the next vessel, so they can increase their skills, with the aim of increasing the skill-level of our pool of crew members.
From now on, we are steadily increasing our services, listening carefully to the opinions of the ship owners who are our customers.
